LIFENG bearings are used on rudder and propeller shafts in fishing vessels, tugboats, deep sea dredgers, leisure craft, luxury yachts and countless other stern-gear applications, and  specified by many leading pump manufacturers for use in hydro-electric plant and centrifugal pumps, and for applications in the sewage, water and oil industries.

Shell Materials

Our in-house manufacturing capabilities enable us to produce bearings from a wide range of materials. We can provide material certificates and other NDT analysis if required. Shell materials include:

Naval Brass

SS316L

Aluminium Bronze

GRP

Phenolic

Custom shell material available upon request

Lining Materials

Nitrile Rubber is used as the main lining material, it is extremely tough and resistant to oil and chemicals. We can however use alternatives as required, such as UHMWPE, PEEK, PTFE and Thordon SXL, we are one of the only companies able to manufacture bearings with large shaft diameters from this material.

Shaft Clearances

The techniques used to bond the shell and rubber ensures strength of bond that matches the strength of the rubber itself. That is this bond will not be the weakest link in the chain.

Bores of all bearings are machined with correct clearances to suit shaft diameters. A standard clearance of 0.1mm per 100mm with tolerance – 0.001~ 0.004 inches per inch of shaft diameter is specified. This allows for any dimensional change due to water absorption to be properly managed and still give sufficient running clearance.
